The Italian Ministry of Economics and Finance (MEF) is in charge of technical support for the Government’s economic and financial policies, macroeconomic strategies and the most relevant regulatory and planning documents.Its competences include:· Analysis of national and international economic, monetary and financial problems; Drawing up of economic and financial plans, in relation to the stability pact deriving from the European Union’s membership;
Management of national and foreign public debt and financial transactions, as well as analysis of the relative trends and flows;
Regulations of the financial and banking system;
Fight against financial crimes, money-laundering and usury;
Financial management of equities owned by the State, relevant divestment and privatization. The Department of the Treasury is one division of MEF and is divided into four staff offices, seven Directorates and a Departmental Administrative Service. A General Director is in charge of its coordination. Each Directorate of the Department of the Treasury is divided into executive offices with specific competences. A manager is in charge of
each office.
